Worship Through Prayer

The first angel’s message, found in Rev. 14:6, admonishes us to Worship Him, our Creator! Jesus reminds us that where our treasure is, there our hearts will be also. (Matt. 6:21) Worship is central in everything we do, say, think, and feel. Our greatest treasure, the focus of our worship, is reflected in our music, play, work, relationships, prayers and much more. We will focus specifically on worship through prayer in our study this Sabbath . When we are truly worshiping our Creator in spirit and in truth, what will our prayers look like? Praise and thanksgiving are clearly worshipful prayer, but what about prayers full of anguish or prayers of repentance? Are these kinds of prayer a form of worship? As we consider the prayers of David, Daniel, and Jesus, perhaps we will gain new insights into worship expressed, not only through praise and thanksgiving, but also through heart wrenching cries of anguish and humble prayers of repentance. May we truly respond to the cry of the first angel in Revelation 14, “WORSHIP HIM!”
