Not just our nation, but the world is seemingly crashing. Prophets and apostles have declared that there would be times like this and that the time of the end, when it takes place, will be like the Days of Noah. (Luke 17:26-27). It was our merciful God Who brought Noah and his family through the flood. The same will be true for those today who cling to God in these troublous times. Yet, I have seen in myself a willingness to look for other saviors such as politicians, governments, wealth, and preparedness to bring me safely to the other side. It’s a trap! The apostle John in his gospel tells us the story of Jesus feeding the five thousand, but the story is not simply about the miracle of feeding a large number of people with 5 barley loaves and 2 fishes. It’s about the more difficult lesson of focusing on our Messiah, our Savior, the Bread of Life. If we focus on another savior, whether it be our food storage, our wealth, or our leaders, whether they be political or church leaders, we will be sorely disappointed.
