Trust Trap

John 8: 5 In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?” 6 They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.

According to Stephen Covey, author of the bestseller entitled “The Speed of Trust,” four kinds of trust exist: blind trust, smart trust, no trust, distrust. In today’s world of 5-star marketing based on establishing trust for a product, it is easy to fall into a trust trap, risking huge losses.

Today our Bible study will identify several trust trap stories found in John 8 and 9. Hopefully we will not only decrease our risk of getting taken, but increase our chances of earning more trust with God and each other. Yes, I said “earning.”

One of my mentors who is a military chaplain at JBLM named Carlos Molina declared recently, “Forgiveness is given, trust is earned.” Is he right?
